Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you service?
We currently specialize in servicing North-East end homeowners.
What type of equipment do you use?
We use the newest technology snow blowers mounted onto farm tractors to be able to quickly and safely remove snow from your driveway the most efficient way possible.
What time of day will you clear my driveway?
We operate 24 hours a day. Our start times are based solely on the snow fall. On average we will start a 10cm or less snowfall after it has fallen or a larger snowfall when 10cm is on the ground. We cannot guarantee a particular time day or night. If it snows overnight as a general rule we start in the early morning and are done by early afternoon. If the city is plowing all the residential streets over night we will also work over night to try to remove it before you leave for work. For snowfalls less than 10cm we usually dispatch our operators about 1 hour before the end of the snowfall.
When can I expect my driveway to be done after a snow event?
All of our routes are built to be completed within approximately 7 hours however there are multiple factors to be taken into account such as when the storm actually finishes, how much snow has fallen (more snow during large storms or white out conditions can take longer for us to safely clear), what snow is forecasted, whether its a day or night clearing (day clearings take much longer due to the car and pedestrian traffic on the roads we must safely work around) and will the city be clearing residential side streets or not is what dictates how long it will take us to fully complete a clearing.
Do you offer rooftop snow removal services?
No, we do not offer this service.
My driveway is gravel. Can you still blow it?
Yes, however you should be aware that some of the gravel on your driveway may get blown onto your lawn until the ground freezes and the stones harden into place.
What are the contract start and end dates?
Snow Blowing contracts start Nov 15 and go to April 1. However if there is snow accumulation of 2 inches or more 24 hours before or after the contract dates and we will honour our contracts during this time.
Do you offer services for commercial properties?
No, at this time we only provide snow removal for residential properties in the North East end of Barrie.
Why do you usually clear driveways overnight?
While the storm itself plays a factor on when we start, the city plows typically clear the public side streets overnight as there is a City of Barrie bylaw prohibiting parking on the roads after 12 am giving the City plows the ability to clear as much of the road as they can at this time. If the city does clear overnight we try to follow them as close as possible on our routes to make sure your driveway has been cleared after the City street plow has been by.
I cannot park in my garage so where should I park my car(s)?
We ask if you must leave your cars in your driveway that you park them as close to the garage door and to one side as much as possible so that we can clear up to and beside your car.
Can you make sure my driveway is clear for 7am so I can get to work/school/nurse visits?
Snow can fall at any time of the day or night. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that we can service your driveway by 7am each day. For example, if the snow falls before midnight we can clear for early am. If the snow falls into the early morning (2am-6am) we begin clearing throughout the day. That being said, we aim to have all of our clients driveways cleared as promptly and safely as possible each snowfall. During ongoing continual snow storms we start clearing at a reasonable time taking into consideration the amount of snow that has fallen and the amount in the forecast.
How close will your tractor come to my garage door and cars?
We clear within approximately 3 feet of all objects to allow for a safety cushion of space.
How much snow is required before you will come to clear my driveway?
We clear snow accumulation over 2 inches November 15 – April 1, this being said each snow storm is different. For example, if there is 2 inches of accumulation but 6-8 inches expected in the next 4 hours we will wait to clear our driveways as the upcoming accumulation poses a larger threat to you getting stuck in your driveway. Also, on multi-day snow storms where we clear your driveway once a day there inevitably will be snow accumulation on your driveway but we will continue to keep looking after it until the snow even ends and the streets are clear.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured and licensed. The safety of our team and the security of your property are our top priorities.
How do I make payments?
We accept various forms of payment, including check, e-transfer and most major credit cards.
Do you provide walkway shoveling services?
No.
Do you come back to clear the snow the city plow leaves?
Yes, we do come back to clear large snow piles left by the city street plows. On larger snow storms we will aim to clear your driveway twice in the 24 hour period.
Do you provide salting services?
No, we do not provide salting services.
Do you offer one-time or on-call services?
No, we do not offer any on-call services as we have chosen to focus 100% of our energy and resources on our seasonally-contracted clients instead.
How many times do you typically service a driveway on an average season?
Typically we clear our client’s driveways 40 times.
When will the laneway markers be removed?
We typically remove the laneway markers within 1 week of the end of the contract, depending on weather and if the ground has thawed. We ask that if our customers remove the markers themselves that they put them on the side of the house or garage so that we may retrieve them. Please do not throw them out or store them inside.
